January 2, 2008

I. Call to Order: 6:30

III. Discussion of Policies

6154 Homework (Elementary), 6154(a) Consideration of input from teachers and parents. Discussion of the suggested length of time with possible changes: Grade 2- change 25 minutes to 40 minutes and 15 to 20 minutes Grade 3- change 45 minutes to 60 minutes Grade 4- change 45 minutes to 70 minutes Grade 5- change 45 minutes to 90 minutes and 30 to 40 minutes Discussion of what is a prolonged absence and what is a legal absence for which homework should be prepared. Discussion of homework assigned on weekends and holidays-stress daily reading and have long term assignments due dates should allow for students to have time after a holiday break to obtain teacher assistance.

Suggested revisions will be made and sent to committee members for discussion at the Jan. 8th meeting which will begin at 6:00.
