Board of Education Policy Committee Meeting Minutes

July 30, 2008

Attendees: J. Bishop-Pullan, G. Burnett, S. Hamilton, T. Dadonna

I. Call to Order: 7:10

II. Approval of Minutes: Minutes of July 10 and July 22, 2008: Approved as printed.

III. Discussion of Bullying Policy #5131.9 : The committee reviewed the changes in the law, the proposed samples from CABE and Board counsel. The committee agreed to follow most of the recommendations from CABE as updated language, easy to read, with some additions from the Sullivan/ Schoen version. T. Dadonna will review the proposed draft policy and sample regulations with the principals for input on the regulations. The committee needs to review and update the Suspension and Expulsion Policy to reflect changes in the bullying policy.

IV Schedule for future Policy Review: The chair will propose potential dates to the committee for continued review of Bullying Policy $5131.9, Suspension and Expulsion Policy #5114 and Attendance Area Policy #5117..
